CAROM SEEDS
Ajwain seeds are ovoid, muricate, aromatic cremocarps and grayish brown in color. The medicinal part of this plant is a seed- like fruit that is often confused with many other seeds and spices (celery seeds, caraway etc) because when dried it resembled an oval, gray seed.
Beacuse of its pungent tast, Carom seeds sre often used as spices. However, it is traditionally used as a digestive aid, relieves abdominal discomfort due to indigestion, antiseptic, anti-tussive or an expectorant. It relieves colic in babies and for kids it also improves digestion and appetite. Ajwain seeds can be used as digestive mixture for large animals. It is an important afte rmeal delicacy.
